BUSINESS EXPO TO AID RECOVERY - 4th,5th & 6th NOVEMBER 2011

The Purpose of the Expo

The Somerset Region was badly disrupted by the combined effects of the widespread January floods and the GFC. There is an urgent need for recovery by the 2000 businesses, primary producers and community organisations in the region. However this is a slow process expected to take some time yet before a return to normality can be achieved.

The Expo will showcase the amazing variety of businesses and industry sectors represented in the Somerset Region Including: Retail, Hospitality, Tourism, Manufacturers, Building & Construction, Agricultural,Horticultural, Educational Institutions, Community Organisations, Emergency Services, Chambers of Commerce, Somerset Regional Council and Government Departments. “This will provide everyone with an opportunity to showcase their wares, create an awareness of upcoming local developments and offer many new business connections.”

The Expo will be free for all local Someset businesses to exhibit, however we also encourage exhibitors from other regions to participate as a way of assisting the Somerset Region to build new connections and create opportunities for growth. There are a number of Government initiatives and Somerset Regional Council projects underway which will be attractive for suppliers and contractors. Cost to exhibit for those outside the Somerset Region will be $330, $440 or $550 (all inc GST) depending on size of exhibition booth required.

Access for setup will be available from 3pm Thursday 3rd November until midday Friday 4th November Doors open to the public from 12.30pm Friday 4th November

  • Friday 4th - Business Meet and Greet function - 3.30pm to 5.30pm
  • Friday 4th - Gala Dinner - 6.30pm to 8.30pm
  • Saturday 5th - Outside Broadcast with River 94.9FM
  • Seminars and workshops held throughout
  • Trade and DIY demonstrations
  • Children’s activities including small animal farm, pony rides, jumping castle
  • Food stands provided by local Charities and Service organisations Expo Promotional

We invite all businesses in SE Queensland to join us in boosting the EXPO to be held in Fernvale which will receive strong media attention and be extensively promoted - Gala Dinner attended by well known VIP’s - this is your chance to showcase your business also whilst helping hundreds of others to fight back. Become a Sponsor and or Exhibitor to show your support for this key event for the business people of the Somerset Region.

 

Calling all sponsors !!

In order to optimise the opportunity to help we invite businesses and organisations external to the district to participate in the event either as sponsors, exhibitors or both.

The Expo will be held in Fernvale which is 20 mins from Ipswich, 1hr from Brisbane, 1¼ hours from Toowoomba, 1.5 hours from Gold Coast and 2hrs from the Sunshine Coast. There is room for 100 exhibitors from outside the Region to take display stands inside the local Convention & Sports stadium. For outside promotions there is a grassed area available for free-standing booths, vehicles and machinery.

The Expo will commence at lunchtime on Friday 4th with set up starting on Thursday 3rd November and the morning of Friday the 4th November for display construction; the second half of Friday will be for a business meet and greet plus various workshops. Both Saturday and Sunday are opens days for the public with an outside broadcast from River949fm on the Saturday. Site clearance must be completed by Sunday afternoon.

A Gala Dinner will be held on Friday night at which several VIP’s and high ranking politicians will be present.
